Our Picks for the Top 6 Places to Eat in Bastrop

Texas_Boot_Company_Top_6_Blog

With rodeo season in full swing we’ve seen lots of new faces in our store. People from all over the state are stopping by on their way to the rodeo and we’re working hard to make sure we have plenty of cold drinks on hand while they shop! In addition to finding the perfect look for all of our customers, we get asked for our dining recommendations on a daily basis. Since we’re always trying to find the best way to meet the customers’ needs, we thought it would be handy to put together what we believe is the top six places to eat in Bastrop and the boots you’d most likely see folks wearing!

In no particular order:

1. Southside Market and Barbeque – This is the oldest barbeque joint in Texas! Originally from Elgin, Southside Market found its way to Bastrop in the fall of 2014. Known for their sausage and their incredible brisket, you can smell the meat smokin’ from our parking lot. You’ll love the pit, you can even see the fire from the counter when you order! This is the granddaddy of all BBQ places in Bastrop County and we think the ambience is as good as the food. At first, you’ll see a room full of Stetson hats, but the boots you’re most likely to see here are Ariat and Anderson Bean.

2. Roadhouse – The jalapeno cream cheese burger was recognized by Texas Monthly as one of the Top 50 burgers in Texas. We love all the burgers and their handmade milk shakes, but if you’re asking our favorite is the peanut butter and chocolate milkshake! Boot you’re most likely to see, Ariat.

3. Viejo’s Tacos Y Tequila – This place was voted Best of Bastrop County 2014, you’ll love Viejo’s gourmet tacos. If you’ve got a little extra time we suggest you explore their margarita selection out on their patio and take a break under the trees. It’s like a mini vacation. Boot you’re most likely to see, Old Gringo.

4. Baxters on Main – From steaks to fish, and some good ole down-home service, Baxter’s has a great selection. It is slightly more upscale but has preserved a nice, relaxed environment. Boot you’re most likely to see, Old Gringo and Lucchese.

5. Piney Creek Chop House – Piney Creek Chop House is Bastrop’s high end dining. The steaks and service are first rate, that’s all you need to know. It’ll speak for itself! Boot you’re most likely to see, Rios of Mercedes or Lucchese Heritage Collection

6. Maxine’s – Famous for their southern style comfort food and breakfast, Maxine’s is filled with local cowboys! Their chicken-fried-chicken is perhaps the best we’ve ever had! They’ve got a great staff, in a very friendly setting, down on Main Street. Oh, and don’t forget to grab a slice (or two) of pie, you won’t be disappointed! Boot you’re most likely to see, Lucchese.

So there you have it, just a few of our favorite spots to eat. Whether you’re headed to the Houston Rodeo or the Austin Rodeo, stop for something to eat when you’re passing through Bastrop! Don’t just take our word for it though, try them all and send us your favorites!
